SINGAPORE, AIMING TO BE THE HUB OF ASEAN DATA PROTECTION
Data protection and privacy has become an increasingly important issue as a result of massive breaches that have compromised the personal information of millions.
With the proliferation of information and digital technologies user awareness towards their privacy is on the rise, consumers are making more privacy- conscious decisions and associating certain brands that provide greater privacy controls as better options.
Although technology plays a critical role in managing data privacy it is an issue that companies as a whole need to tackle; HR, Legal, Marketing, IT, Procurement & Finance.
Almost every organisation collects and stores some form of personal data, be it information on their employees (86%) or customers (88%).
Following on from Data Protection World Forum’s London event in November 2018 the Asia Pac conference and expo will be held in Singapore in May 2019 and will become an annual event for the region.
Data Protection World Forum will attract 2,000 delegates over the two days in May and will also host a Data Protection Summit Dinner on the first day of the event.
